Creating the perfect job description is one of those recruitment tasks that seems really simple but actually requires careful thought.

Add too much detail, and you risk losing candidates who don't have the time or attention span to read through lengthy text. Include too little information, and you might attract unsuitable candidates.

On top of that, writing job descriptions is a repetitive process, especially for recruiters and staffing agencies managing multiple requisitions.

The good news is that numerous AI job description generators can streamline this task. While many offer similar features, some stand out.

Take a look at the list below to find the tool that best suits your workflow.

Carv

I’ll start with our own product. Carv doesn’t offer a typical job description generator where you select a job title or industry and get a generic job description.

Instead, our approach emphasizes the importance of context in creating the perfect job description for attracting the type of candidates your hiring managers will actually want to move further in the hiring process.

So instead of asking you to select a job title or industry, Carv’s AI assistant or workmate as we call it joins your intake calls and uses the context from these meetings to create a compelling job description, ready to be published on job boards.

This approach ensures that your job requirements are aligned with your company or client’s actual needs, tone of voice, and company culture, and helps you create interview questions to attract high-quality candidates.

You can try Carv for free here.

Just create an account, connect your calendar, and invite the AI workmate to your next intake call, or upload a recording from a previous call.

The workmate will generate a job description that you can customize in the tool, before pushing it to your social media page or job board. Carv offers a series of ATS integrations too, for end-to-end automation and admin-free recruitment.

Workable

Next on the list is the AI-powered job description generator from Workable. The applicant tracking system is used by in-house teams for HR and recruitment processes, so the job description generator is only one functionality, and not a core pillar of the product.

The tool is relatively basic, as it doesn’t allow for any customization of the generated text. Instead, you can copy it to your job board or social media page and adjust it as needed before incorporating it into job postings.

Next to this free tool, that can be accessed here, Workable also offers a series of templates for recruiters, for things like interview questions, HR and recruiting emails, or onboarding checklists.

GoHire

GoHire’s AI job description generator offers a relatively generic functionality. It generates the text based on the job title and company name.

Unlike Carv or Workable, GoHire’s free tool is rather basic, in the sense that it doesn’t allow for any form of customization.

You can, of course, copy the generated description and adjust it based on your needs, but there’s no real benefit to using this tool instead of ChatGPT for example, if your only use case is generating the job description.

Recooty

Recooty’s job description generator has the same functionality like the GoHire and Workable ones.

The free tool claims to create SEO-ready output, and allows you to create a JD by choosing the title or role, the company name, the language, and the industry your company operates in.

The output text is rather generic, but you can edit it before copying to your ATS or social media page. The tool does offer the option to post the job to a series of job boards automatically, so it saves some time in the process.

Dweet

Dweet’s free AI tool offers limited functionality compared to other generative AI JD generators, and supports only two languages: English and French.

It is, however, good enough if you’re looking for a base for your job descriptions and don’t want to write the entire text from scratch. The free tool allows you to add some company information too, making the final text somehow personalized.

Also, the result is rather structured, with separate sections for the JD summary, responsibilities, requirements, and skills required for the open role.

You can refine the output by giving the AI agent additional instructions - for example, if you want to include certain terms or criteria to make sure you get applications from top talent only.

You can try it here.

HighPerformr

The job description tool from HighPerformr generates detailed and accurate job descriptions in seconds, but the functionality is limited. Again, the only input fields available are the job title and the company name, so the text is not really ready for job board distribution.

You cannot adjust the tone of the description, and there’s no editing option neither, but you can regenerate the output if you’re not happy with the result, or simply copy it to your ATS or job platform and adjust as needed.

Skima

Last on my list is the free job description generator from Skima. This tool allows you to create a JD based not only on the role you’re hiring for, but also the location and the year of experience.

Once you add these criteria, you’ll get a generic job description intro, and you can expand the text by adding skills, job responsibilities, job requirements, or other details - for example, qualifications, salary range, or your company overview.

This tool allow for a high degree of customization and you can make your job descriptions sound like you fairly easily. Still, it’s quite some manual work if you’re managing multiple requisitions for different clients or hiring managers.

All right, let’s wrap this up.

As you can see, there are plenty of free AI job description generators out there, most of them with similar functionality.

Our recommendation is to choose the tool that fits into your workflows the best, takes into consideration the context of your company, and requires the least amount of manual, repetitive work when creating a new job description.
